HRRT (High Resolution Research Tomograph; Siemens Medical Solutions, Knoxville, TN, USA) is a high resolution PET camera for human brain and small-animal imaging with design features that enable high image spatial resolution (app. 2.5 mm) combined with high sensitivity. The axial length of the imaging field of view (FOV) of the scanner is 25.2 cm and transaxial FOV is 31.2 cm. The wide bore opening (35 cm) enables imaging of e.g. rabbits, rats and mice. For rodents, several animals can be imaged at the same time. A isoflurane anesthesia system is available to keep animals immobilized during imaging.
