A model for liver fibrosis in mouse established

Scientists at TCDM have established a model to study liver fibrosis in mice. The model is based on a choline deficient high fat diet. The liver damage can be followed by serum ALT and AST levels, and various biomarkers for fibrosis can be measured ex vivo in sacrificed mice. The model can be used to study genetic alterations predisposing to liver fibrosis and to study the efficacy of drug interventions.
