New Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometer Unit

A new ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography coupled to a triple quadrupole/linear ion trap mass spectrometer has been installed at the TCDM premises at the Turku Centre for Molecular Analytics in the Department of Chemistry, Aurum. The equipment purchased from Sciex (7500 QTrap) and was the first of its type sold into the Nordics and is a significant boost in sensitivity compared to previous generation instruments. The instrument consists of 2D UHPLC system which is capable of detecting a wide variety of steroids from a range of different range of matrices which is especially import in animal research. The ability to analyze different matrices is also assisted by the QTrap function which can help develop more specific assays for the steroids/analytes of interest.
